Dover Township plans to start our yearly street sweeping the week of 4-1-2024. We kindly ask that you remove all vehicles from the roadway. This not only helps our operator but also makes for a much cleaner job. Dover’s goal is to get as much dirt and debris as possible during this operation. This could help prevent slips, trips, and falls. It also provides a positive impression of “Dover Proud”.

Street Sweeping: How Dover Township disposes of the collected material.

Our operators collect a small sample each day when they clean our 2019 Elgin Whirlwind. Dover keeps all the collected samples until the sweeping operations are complete. Once we have all the collected samples for the season, we take them to an accredited laboratory for testing. The test results determine how Dover Township disposes of the collected debris. If the results determine there are no contaminates within the material, Dover Township could use them for backfill around pipes, in parks, or along roadway edges. If the material is contaminated, Dover Township must haul it to the landfill and pay per ton for disposal.
