Pine Rd FEMA/PEMA Hazard Mitigation Grants

Three rounds of Hazard Mitigation Grant Program Funds were utilized in 2016, 2018, and 2024 to purchase, demolish and relocate tenants from this area subject to repeated flooding.  The program is a voluntary buyout program through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (75% funding) and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (25% funding).  The Township has appraisals performed and works with the property owners to make an application to the program for funding.  Once acquired, the land is then required to remain open space.  All total, the Township has utilized funds of approximately $1,261,600 to complete the work to remove these homes from this flood prone area.

 

  • 2016-Round #1 (Green) -Dover Township acquired 5 properties that were located in the floodplain.  Grant funding in the amount of $266,045.00.
  • 2018-Round #2 (Yellow) -Dover Township acquired 7 properties that were located in the floodplain.  Grant funding in the amount of $529,735.83.  One property was a mini mobile home park with several trailers located on it.
  • 2024-Round #3 (Blue) -Dover Township has acquired 4 properties that were located in the floodplain.  In January of 2024, the contract to demolish the structures was awarded to BRB Contractors.  The total amount of the grant for this phase is $465,819.65.  The demolition work is anticipated to be completed by late spring.
