05/26/2023 – Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a bridge rehabilitation project is scheduled to begin next week on Cly Road (Route 1013) in York County. The bridge spans Conewago Creek between Grandview Drive and Bowers Bridge Road in Conewago and Newberry townships.
Weather permitting, the contractor will begin work on Thursday, June 1. The bridge will be closed and a detour of up to 140 days will be in place using Grandview Drive, Cragmoor Road, Route 297, Conewago Creek Road and Bowers Bridge Road.
This work is part of a two-bridge rehabilitation project that also includes work on Colonial Road (Route 4015) in Dover Township. Work on each bridge consists of removing the existing superstructures and replacing them with prestressed concrete spread box beams with a composite reinforced concrete deck and barrier supported on existing concrete substructures.
The tops of existing substructures will be modified to provide new reinforced concrete bearing seats. Work also includes minor approach roadway reconstruction, scour protection, guide rail, and other miscellaneous construction.
Work on the Colonial Road bridge is expected to begin July 20, 2023. An updated press release will be issued prior to the start of that project.
All work is expected to be completed by April 3, 2024.
JVI Group, Inc., of York Springs, PA, is the contractor on this $2,927,863 project.
