Dover Township has several parks that showcase the history of the Greater Dover area. They also include many ways for our residents to engage in play.
Brookside Park: 4054 Fox Run Rd.
Brookside Park is an historic park in Dover, dating back to 1901. The park sits in a beautiful setting with mature trees with a stream flowing through it. There are four buildings that are available to rent for private events. There is also a playground, two sand volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, and a basketball court. The Carousel Building is one of the most famous buildings in Dover. In the fall of 2009, it was discovered that the building had been eaten away by a bug called a Powder Post Beetle. It was torn down in January of 2010, and has since been rebuilt to resemble to old building. Several events are hosted at Brookside Park throughout the year - Old Fashioned Carnival on the fourth Wednesday of July, Halloween in the Park on the last Friday in October, and Christmas in the Park on the first Saturday of December.
